Pennsylvania
Biodiversity Data Inventory (PBDI)
Pennsylvania has a long history
of documenting biodiversity with records of plants and animals
dating back to at least the 1740s. However, this information
is spread across many organizations and occurs in a variety
of formats. To make information more accessible to potential
users, the Pennsylvania Biodiversity Partnership initiated the
Pennsylvania Biodiversity Data Inventory (PBDI) to compile information
about what biodiversity data exists for Pennsylvania.
PBDI is a survey for information about Pennsylvania biodiversity
datasets ("metadata") and does not require any input
of biodiversity data.
If you have records of plants
and animals you have identified - studied field mice populations
in a vacant field for several years; noted the growth of algae
in ponds; tracked the species of tadpoles hatching each spring;
counted birds in natural areas; maintained a list of birds visiting
your home feeder; or recorded the invasion of purple loosestrife
along a stream - please report that you have such information.
To add information about your
data to PBDI, click on the link below and follow the instructions
for PBDI. Information about data in any format is welcome,
from field notes to computer databases!
