Pennsylvania Biodiversity Partnership
PBP Members Area

The Pennsylvania Biodiversity Partnership (PBP) was created in response to a recommendation made by the Pennsylvania 21st Century Environment Commission that a broad-based public-private partnership be formed to promote the conservation of native species and their habitats. PBP is unique in Pennsylvania in bringing together - as equal partners - organizations and individuals with diverse interests and backgrounds, all sharing the uniting goal of conserving biodiversity. PBP is a voluntary coalition and anyone interested in Pennsylvania's biodiversity may participate. PBP members represent conservation and environmental organizations, government agencies, business and industry, scientists and academic organizations, sportsmen and women, and educators as well as private landowners and other individuals.

PBP is governed by a Board of Directors that acts on recommendations from seven task forces (Biodiversity Informatics, Education, Funding, Policy, Public Relations, Science, and Stewardship). PBP members may participate in one or more task forces, which meet as needed in various locations in the state. Task force chairs are elected by each task force and approved by the Board of Directors. Board members are elected annually from a slate presented to the Board of Directors and may serve two consecutive three-year terms.

PBP works to conserve biodiversity statewide by promoting communication and cooperation among a broad spectrum of stakeholders, both public and private. Becoming a member will help aid PBP in raising public awareness of the importance of Pennsylvania’s biodiversity and to develop and implement recommendations to better conserve it. Membership in PBP is open to everyone who shares our vision.
